Assistant Director
|

Education/Training: Minimum Education: BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field plus 18 hours of early childhood education or Associate of Arts degree in early childhood or related field with 9 semester hours in Early Childhood, Administration I & II prefer.
|

Minimum Experience: Four years of relevant experience with 2 years in an early care and education classroom setting.
|
|
In-Service Training: 10 Hrs. of early childhood training, Health & Safety regulations and procedures, Center Guidelines and Policies, Parent/Staff Interactions.
|
|
Skills/Personal Attributes: Mentoring skills, Training Skills, Performance Assessment, Advanced communication and computer skills, Curriculum development, Marketing skills, Administrative and supervisory skills, Assume Director or Assistant Director duties in his/her absence, Ability to teach, monitor, and supervise any age group of children utilizing prescribed educationally focused curriculum, Assist with other duties as needed: may include substituting classroom, food preparation, van chauffeuring, answering the phone, responding to parent questions, and opening and closing the Academy. Participate in special events. Team Player, Problem Solving, Enhanced/Statewide advocacy skills, Responsible, Dependable, Compassionate and with positive attitude emotionally and physically healthy*,. Builds enrollment to operate Academy at capacity, Implements curriculum and program philosophy; ensures facility maintenance,
oversees all operational functions of the Academy, demonstrates knowledge of legal regulations and standards.

Essential Knowledge: Assists and supports Center Director in all aspects of management of the academy/child development, to include human resources, marketing customer relations, financial systems, quality control and physical facility. Also responsible for the daily planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children. Usually, is assisted in the classroom by a Teacher or Assistant Teacher and is responsible for ensuring that all parent, child and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed. In addition, is responsible for identifying staff training needs and subsequently training staff in appropriate early childhood education concepts. Ensures that lesson plans, teaching aids and classrooms are all age-appropriate. Manages delivery of quality early childhood education program to preschool-age children, plus extended care for children up to age 12, Program Development, Program evaluation, Curriculum development, Learning Styles, Family Involvement, Licensing compliance and local regulations, Good Business sense shown in Administrative and organizational skills, Finance & Budgeting, Personnel policies and procedures, Purchasing, Professional Ethics, Planning a safe and healthy environment, Use of the environmental rating scales, Advanced ability to interact with parents and families, Advocate for early care and education, Ability to develop training, Resources and Networking, Labor Laws.
Licensing compliance, certificates or specialized training as required by State
law and/or regulatory agencies.
