Center Director

Education/Training: Minimum Education: BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field plus 18 hours of early childhood education or Associate of Arts degree in early childhood or related field with 9 semester hours in Early Childhood, Administration I & II Level 3 (Required).

Minimum Experience: Five years in early care and education with 2 years in an early care and education classroom setting.
In-Service Training: 5 to 10 Hrs. of early childhood training.

Skills/Personal Attributes: Mentoring skills, Training Skills, Performance Assessment, Advanced communication and computer skills, Curriculum development, Marketing skills, Administrative and supervisory skills, Team Player, Problem Solving, Enhanced/Statewide advocacy skills, Family Involvement Responsible, Dependable, Compassionate and with a positive attitude, emotionally and physically healthy*,. Builds enrollment to operate Academy at target capacity, Implements curriculum and program philosophy; ensures facility maintenance, oversees all operational functions of the Academy, demonstrates knowledge of legal regulations and standards. Ability to teach, monitor, and supervise any age group of children utilizing prescribed educationally focused curriculum, Assist with other duties as needed: may include, substitute classroom, food preparation, van chauffeuring, answering the phone, and responding to parent questions, and, opening and closing the Academy. Participate in special events.

Essential Knowledge: Manages delivery of quality early childhood education program to preschool-age children, plus extended care for children up to age 12, Program Development, Program evaluation, Curriculum development, Learning Styles, Family Involvement, Licensing compliance and local regulations. Good Business sense shown in Administrative and organizational skills, Finance & Budgeting, Personnel policies and procedures, Purchasing, Professional Ethics, Planning a safe and healthy environment, Use of the environmental rating scales, Advanced ability to interact with parents and families, Advocate for early care and education, Ability to develop training, Resources and Networking, Labor Laws, Hires and develops associates capable of educating preschool children. Effectively operates and manages all aspects of a school, to include human resources, marketing, customer relations, financial systems, quality control and physical facility. Providing creative, age-appropriate programs to all children served at the school. Actively develop and maintain positive customer/community relations. Maintaining high-capacity utilization and manages all resources effectively and within budget. Establishes strong working relationships with state licensing authorities. Licensing compliance, certificates or specialized training as required by State law and/or regulatory agencies.
