Nursery I

We have a five day program in our Nursery I for children ages 6 weeks to 15 months old with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The child’s first three years are critical for the development of the brain and language skill. Our goals of the Nursery I program are to meet your child’s individual needs while providing a developmentally age appropriate and stimulating environment. The Nursery I program provides a warm, nurturing atmosphere in which caregivers coo, cuddle, rock, hold, play and sing with your baby. Your child will feel safe in a nurturing environment that will encourage him/her to explore, to bond with others and develop a sense of trust and security.  Nursery I curriculum provides playful, stimulating activities designed for individual children to develop their sense of trust and increase language, cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. Daily routines are viewed as the core of the curriculum, with teachers understanding that toddlers depend on all their five senses for learning.

  • Teachers talk, cuddle, giggle or sing a song while they change a diaper to assist children discover the associations between their body and the environment. An easy, flexible, daily schedule is very critical because it allows for relaxed routines and individualized eating and sleeping opportunities. Each child is assigned a primary caregiver who does the majority of the care for the child, and is able to bond with both infants and parents.
  • We introduced the use of American Sign Language to improve the way parents and teachers interact with infants and toddlers. Through simple signs such as more, eat, drink, help, bottle/milk, bed, book, and diaper change infants and toddlers are able to communicate their wants, needs, and observations in a manner that adults clearly understand.
  • Activities are introduced as appropriate and reinforced informally throughout the day based on individual developmental growth. Music and reading are essential parts of the curriculum, and for older infants and young toddlers sensory activities with water/sand and art enrich their curriculum.
  • Teachers prepare daily reports, so you will know what your child’s day was like. Each month you will receive a parent newsletter that contains your child’s classroom news and to keep you informed of school events.
